Hi! My name is Wendy Laza and I am an Afro-Latina licensed therapist in the state of Florida. I started Root to Rise Therapy as a challenge to myself that we are all capable of doing difficult things, and to expand on an opportunity to use my passion for people and mental health to help others. Cuban born and Florida raised, I recognize the stigma present within many communities to seek help and reach out to a professional. For this reason, I am dedicated to providing a compassionate and personalized approach to mental health therapy. My practice integrates evidence-based techniques (such as CBT, ACT, and strength based approaches) with a client-centered focus, ensuring that each individual's unique needs are met on their journey to healing and well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

A behavioral modality, which focuses on how thoughts, emotions, and actions connect and teaches client how to shift and reframe thoughts. When incorporating CBT, I like to provide clients with psychoeducation (increased therapeutic information) and homework or other opportunities to practice outside of session.

Prolonged stress can lead to long-term adverse effects. I use these sessions to help clients identify what coping skills and form of structure works best for them. Using a solution-focused approach, I help clients create attainable SMART goals with measurable outcomes.
